The Marilyn Brown Novel Award is an occasional award (now annual) given to the best unpublished novel focusing on realistic cultural experiences of the Utah Region submitted for consideration, although originally the story needed to also be Mormoncentric.
The award was founded by Marilyn Brown and her husband to find quality fiction focused on the regional Mormon experience. They passed responsibility for the award to the Association for Mormon Letters. Beginning with the 2009 award, the Utah Valley University's English Department has stewardship over the award, with Jen Wahlquist heading. The award includes a $1000 honorarium pulled from its $30000 endowment.
